Al Blake has been refining and releasing many of these songs for over a decade now. In a recent message from him, this one is "a real good-un". Mostly an acoustic effort, it maintains his affinity for the rural, rooted sound that is the basis for the blues. Some of the songs feature fellow Hollywood Fats band alumnus, Fred Kaplan on piano and on one track, Kirk Fletcher adds to the proceedings................
THIS IS WHAT AL BLAKE SAYS ABOUT THIS RELEASE:
"what a journey it has been !
This collection of songs is water from deep in the well. From my perspective it represents more than 50 years searching for paths to take me deeper and deeper into what I believe to be the heart of blues music and the source. It is also much like a book of short stories. Most chapters, in this case songs ,speak to some of my most personal life experiences. Freddy Kaplan’s piano support on 7 tracks is as usual, in the moment and stellar."
