Al Garner hails from Murfreesboro, Tennessee, a small town about thirty miles south of Nashville. He quickly became a much in demand drummer, playing behind many of the great regional R&B artists of the day, including Gene Allison and Roscoe Shelton. He was also in demand as a Blues Shouter and MC in the Jefferson street nightclubs. Al had (and still does have) a very gregarious manner and engaging stage presence.
