This was the eighth of B.B. Kings twelve albums for the budget-priced Crown label and for me its definitely a nine-out-of-ten compilation. The majority of the tracks come from the beginning of the 60s, just ahead of B.B.s move from Kent to ABC Paramount - a period where the hand of producer Maxwell Davis was firmly on the tiller. Ive always been a sucker for Davis brassy bluesy arrangements and my favourite recordings of Kings from his long career are those from the later Kent years (and his first session for ABC) where Maxwell was established in the driving seat..........
