This is another installment in CROSSCUT'S live recordings from the Lucerne Blues Festival in 1998. As with the ROY GAINES and JOHNNY JONES/CHARLES WALKER releases, the bands are tight and focused, the material is well chosen and the players are superb. This release features an excellent band that includes JAMES WHEELER, BILLY FLYNN and KEN SAYDAK as well as STROGER. The set spotlights each players strengths and gives each of them time to shine within the set. Wheeler does some fine guitar & vocal spots while Flynn tears it up instrumentally on a couple sides. Saydak delivers a rocking version of the Amos Milburn recording "Thinking & Drinking" and overall everyone appears to be having fun and still maintaining a listenable recording. 1. Intro 2.
