Wes Montgomery redefined what it was possible to do with a guitar in the jazz world. His unconventional playing style, using primarily his thumb rather than a plectrum or his fingers, gave him an unmistakable sound that has often been imitated, but has never been equaled.
This album comprises three of the relatively few live recordings that exist of the great man at work - all of which originate in Paris. Disc One comprises the famous Impressions and Solitude albums recorded for Affinity in 1965 - his most creative period with Verve - while Disc Two features a blistering concert from the Theatre des Champs Elysees in the same year with the famous line-up of Mabern, Harper and Lovelace bolstered by the appearance of Jimmy Griffin on sax
