It's easy to be overwhelmed by the sheer volume of Hopkin's recordings.....after all he was an incredibly prolific artist who recorded for anyone with some cash.....This collection has some REAL GEMS on it including both of his extremely rare TNT label recordings from 1953 (first 4 tracks) which sound almost "delta like" with his MOANIN BLUES being a real standout and unlike most of his other recordings......Recordings for FIRE- TRADITION- JEWEL complete the set including some of the live electric recordings from the BIRD LOUNGE in Houston.....
