Babe Stovall was the inspiration for the song Mr. Bojangles by Jerry Jeff Walker, who met Babe at about the time of this recording (1968). During this period, Babe was entertaining college students, hippies, tourists, artists and locals on the streets and in the cafes and art galleries of the French Quarter in New Orleans, captivating them with his antics while singing and picking on his National guitar. Babe's guitar playing style was influenced by Tommy Johnson, whom he'd met in Mississippi around 1930. This CD comes with liner notes supplied by David Evans.............
