One of the definitive R&B sax men with his definitive release. R&B saxophone giant King Curtis was at the top of his game on three consecutive nights in March 1971, when he opened for Aretha Franklin at a trio of historic concerts at Bill Graham's storied venue. Backed by his ace rhythm section that included soul/funk masters CORNELL DUPREE, BERNARD "PRETTY" PURDIE & JERRY JEMOTT, plus organist Billy Preston, and the Memphis Horns, Curtis rips through a soulful tour de force of top R&B, rock, and pop hits of the day. This deluxe edition includes five rare bonus tracks, including a version of George Harrison's "My Sweet Lord." Tragically, this would be one of his last performances as he was murdered in front of his home a few months later. 1. Memphis Soul Stew 2. A Whiter Shade Of Pale 3. Whole Lotta Love 4. I Stand Accused 5. Changes 6. Ode To Billie Joe 7. Mr. Bojangles 8. Signed Sealed Delivered I'm Yours 9. Soul Serenade BONUS TRACKS 10. My Sweet Lord (with Billy Preston) 11. Them Changes 12. Ode To Billy Joe 13. Soul Serenade 14. Memphis Soul Stew |
