Growing up in Southern California during the 1960's played a big role in my musical taste & education.  When I heard Los Lobos was going to release a collection of Southern California covers, I was excited!  NATIVE SONS casts a wide net musically but really reflects the different styles that were all part of the sound of L.A. 1960's.  From the hard rocking covers of DON & DEWEY and THEE MIDNIGHTERS to the rock sounds of the era (BEACH BOYS- BUFFALO SPRINGFIELD- JACKSON BROWNE) the band finds the feel of the originals without imitation.  Their covers of LALO GUERRERO, WILLIE BOBO & WAR show their original approach to classic soul & R&B comes naturally and they nail PERCY MAYFIELD's 60's blues classic NEVER NO MORE............  Guests include WIllie G (THEE MIDNIGHTERS) & Barrence Whitfield (THE SAVAGES)............
