Betty Harris' recordings in the 1960's are a benchmark for deep southern soul. Born & raised in the south, her first recordings (produced by Bert Berns) for the JUBILEE label produced the hit "Cry To Me" which was a slowed down cover version of the Solomon Burke recording on ATLANTIC. Her later sides were produced by Allan Toussaint for his SANSU label and feature some of the finest soul recordings to come out of the Crescent City........
