Since the early Fifties Ike Turner has been one of the most important and influential figures in popular music andhas played a key role in the development of rock 'n' roll, soul and funk music from its early roots in Fifties R&B.
Truly multi-talented, as writer, music scout, arranger, performer and musician, he has been responsible for a string of classic recordings and hits over the years.
Ike Turner was the man responsible for what many consider to be the first rock 'n' roll record ever, the R&B chart topper 'Rocket 88' which he recorded at Sun Records back in 1951 and released under Jackie Brenston's name.
