Sims began his recording career with Blue Bonnet Records in 1948, and went on to record for Specialty and Ace in the fifties. His big Southern hits included "Lucy Mae Blues," "She Likes to Boogie Real Low," and "Walking With Frankie." Unable to follow up with hits in the sixties, he struggled with alcoholism, legal troubles, and ill health, finally succumbing to pneumonia in 1970. Frankie Lee Sims was one of the great down-home Texas blues men of the fifties.
