This 53-minute CD is the first time these two live New Orleans club-recordings from the mid-eighties are being released, featuring deep-South bluesmen Robert Lockwood,Jr. (from Arkansas) and Boogie Bill Webb (from Mississippi).
Robert Lockwood, Jr. is said to be the only blues guitarist ever to receive lessons from the legendary bluesman Robert Johnson and is considered the premier interpreter of Robert Johnson’s songs today.
Boogie Bill Webb’s style combines his down-home Mississippi roots – particularly influenced by Roosevelt Holts and Tommy Johnson - with a mixture of New Orleans-style blues. Lockwood’s is a solo concert, featuring him on 12-string guitar and vocals; Webb’s is also a solo acoustic guitar concert, with assistance by fellow bluesman Harmonica Slim on vocals. |
