In the late '60s, rock 'n' roll fans began discovering the magic of Merrill Moore. A boogie woogie pianist who hung around the hillbilly bars of southern California, he cut music that defied categorisation. Part boogie-woogie, part country, part western swing, part pop. Mostly it was just Merrill Moore music. The whole story of Merrill's Capitol career (1952-1958) is here. 44 tracks, many previously unissued, including House Of Blue Lights, Big Bug Boogie, Red Light, Flyright Boogie, Rock Rockola and Barrel House Bessie. The studio bands include the cream of the west coasters, like Jimmy Bryant, Speedy West and Roy Lanham.
